Irish's Story Playhouse Call for Submissions

Magazine is published between

the 1st and the 10th of each month.

Current Response Time: Under 30 days

Beginning with the April Issue:

Magazine will be produced in both print and electronic formats. Printed versions will be available for purchase online. Authors are supplied an electronic copy of the magazine upon request, but will not be supplied a print copy of the magazine. The printed version of StoryTeller Tymes will include some material not found in the electronic version. The price per issue of the printed StoryTeller Tymes will be $6.99. A link will be supplied here for interested authors when available.

Irish's Story Playhouse will now offer payments to our authors. At this time, our budget is limited. We hope to expand our ability to pay in the future.

Stories: $3.00 per story

Poetry:$1.00 per poem

Articles:$2.00 per article

Artwork:$1.00 per piece of art

All payments are made via paypal. You must have a valid paypal address in order to be paid. Payments are sent upon acceptance and the return of your contract. No payment will be made for those works for which we have not received a contract back from the author or artist of the work. All work must have a returned contract in order to be published in our magazine.

 

Irish's Story Playhouse is now open to submissions for the StoryTeller Tymes Web Magazine and Irish's Story Playhouse Website. Please read the guidelines carefully as they have changed.

 

The StoryTeller Tymes is now a themed monthly magazine. Please be sure to submit stories for the correctly themed month. Stories and poetry must be submitted the month prior to the issue coming out. This is very important! For instance, if you are writing a winter themed story for the January issue, it must be received no later than December 21. Stories received in January will be considered for the February issue and so on. Themes are listed at least three months in advance. Currently, themes are listed for the year 2010.

 

Story Lengths:

Minimum 300 words not to exceed 7,500 words.

Poetry Lengths:

Minimum of 12 lines no maximum.

Pictures:

Irish's Story Playhouse does accept original art for the StoryTeller Tymes. Please send this in jpeg or gif formats. Art must fit the month's theme to be considered for that month.

Non-Fiction:

Irish's Story Playhouse does publish non-fiction work. Articles and features that fall into this section must fit the theme of the month. Minimum length 300 words. Maximum length 1,000 words.

Animal Friends Submissions:

These are true reports on real animals-not stories. Animals do not have to fit the theme of the magazine. Minimum 500 words Maximum 1,000 words.

Fourth of July and fireworks all around as well as other ways to celebrate the joy and beauty of summer.

Stories and poetry centered on school related themes.

September 2010: Falling for Fairytales

This issue is all princesses, princes, frogs and castles.

October 2010: Of Witches, Ghosts, and Goblins

Halloween stories and poetry.

Deadline September 21st

November 2010: Harvesting Thanks

Thanksgiving themed stories and poetry.

Deadline October 21st

December 2010: Elves and Reindeer

Christmas stories and poetry featuring the elves and the reindeer who pull Santa's Sleigh.

Deadline November 21st

 

What We Want:

Good, clean stories and poetry written for children aged 3 to 14.

Writing should be free of grammatical and spelling errors. Please proofread before submitting.

All genres are welcome as long as they stay within the age requirements of our readers.

We especially like stories with morals or lessons to be learned.

Nonfiction should fit the theme of the magazine for that month with the exception of the animal page.

 

What We Don't Want:

Irish's Story Playhouse does not publish profanity.

We also do not want content of a sexual nature or content which would be offensive to parents.

We do NOT publish any racially discriminating material. We will reject your story or poem if it is purposefully hurtful to any persons or groups of persons based on discrimination.

We do not publish bloody, gory stories. Horror is fine, gore is not.

 

The Fine Print:

All work submitted must be your original work and may not be copied in whole or in part in order to be considered.

Although the StoryTeller Tymes does print public domain work, we do not take public domain submissions from authors. Please submit only original work for our consideration.

Any age can submit.Please indicate if you are under the age of 18 in your submission.

Irish's Story Playhouse does not take copyright for any material submitted to us. We ask for exclusive electronic publication rights, first print rights, and audio rights for six months and an additional 12 months of non-exclusive rights. However, YOU, the author or creator, own your work.

If it is found by Irish's Story Playhouse Publications that you, the author or creator of accepted works, do not honor the contract for which your work was published after you have signed and returned the contract to the publisher, Irish's Story Playhouse Publications will ban you, the author and creator of accepted works, from being eligible for future publication with us.

Irish's Story Playhouse will archive your work after the term of 18 months. If you wish to have your work removed from the archives, you may do so by sending an email with the title of your work and the name you wrote under if different from your actual name. Work will be removed from the archives within 30 days of such a notice. Work will not be removed from the original issue in which it appeared.

Formatting is not a concern. As long as we can find your paragraphs and line breaks, we ignore formatting.

Grammar, Spelling, and Punctuation DO matter. We are very small and do not have the time or the staff to correct these for you. Please proofread your work.

You MUST return a signed contract, if offered, via postal mail or email before work can be published in the magazine. For authors and artists under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign and return a contract before work will be published.

Please include your name and the name you wish to write under, if any, with your submission. Submissions without this information will be rejected unread.

Occasionally, Irish's Story Playhouse may choose to publish an anthology. In the case of such an occurrence, you will be asked if you would like to be included if Irish's Story Playhouse is interested in your story for this purpose. Irish's Story Playhouse does not take submissions for the anthologies. All stories in an anthology must have been accepted and have appeared in The StoryTeller Tymes Web Magazine.

You as an author have a right to decide NOT to accept a contract if offered. If you choose to decline an offered contract, your submission will be deleted from all records including email records.

Authors and artists may submit more than one piece per issue for consideration.
