Craft Glue:

Glue is one of the most used supplies in children's crafts. I know I use at least 2-3 eight ounce bottles a week making crafts for both this site and my personal use. Here's a simple, inexpensive recipe for glue that really works well. I've used it to glue everything from glass beads to paper with no problems at all.

2 cups flour

1 1/2 c Water

5 cups boiling water

Pinch of salt

Pinch of baking soda

Food coloring (optional)

Mix flour with about 1 1/2 cups cold water and stir until smooth. Pour mixture into boiling water.Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of baking soda. Stir constantly until it is a little thicker than cream.

Pour into a clean airtight bottle for storage. This glue will last a while and can be stored in the refrigerator when not in use.

Tip: Save old bottles of school glue and use these with this glue. I've found it makes it very easy to use and control as this is a little thinner than school glue.
