Halloween Ribbon Books
These little books are a great activity for parties and for party favors. You can decorate them any way you want, even adding a few charms to hang from the ribbon if you wish. Best of all, these books are made from things you already have around the house!
Materials:
Empty cereal boxes or other lightweight cardboard
Paper
Glue
Decorative paper-like old wrapping paper
Thin Ribbon or yarn or craft floss
Hole punch
Macoroni, sequins, stickers, markers, or anything else you'd like for the cover.
Cut the cardboard into pieces 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches in size. You'll need two for each book.
Cut 16 pieces of paper into pieces 2 inches by 3 1/4 inches in size. These are the pages in your book.
Use a hole punch to place two holes evenly along the short side of the cardboard pieces.
Use the hole punch to do the same to the papers. The holes must match on the cardboard and the paper in order to thread the ribbon.
Take a decorative piece of paper (Old wrapping paper, newspaper, or magazines work really well.) and cut a piece a 3 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches.
Wrap the decorative paper around the cardboard pieces. Glue into place.
Use a pencil to poke through the decorative paper where the holes are.
Take two of the papers and glue them to the back of the cardboard you just covered. Make sure to line up the holes.
Repeat for the second piece of cardboard.
IMPORTANT: Allow glue to dry before completing this project!
Once the glue is completely dry, tie your book together with ribbon or yarn. Decorate your cover in any way you wish.
