Baker's Clay Recipe:
This is a no cook dough so even kids can make it. It makes quite a bit and doesn't store well. It should be used and baked the same day.
3 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 1/2 cup water
Mix the dough together until it is only slightly sticky. Knead the dough until smooth and use. If the dough is too dry, you can add more water. If it is too wet, add more flour.
To Make Pumpkins:
Roll dough into small balls (about 2 inches) Roll a small piece of dough to make a long strip. This will make the stems of your pumpkins.
Place rolled balls on a cookie sheet. Use the blunt ended needle to make the marks that go around the pumpkin. Cut or pull a piece from the roll you made for stems about 1/2 inch long. Attach it to the top of the pumpkin.
When all the pumpkins are done, bake them at about 300 degrees for about 15 minutes or until completely dry. The pumpkins will have a hollow sound when tapped lightly.
Cool the pumpkins. When the pumpkins are cooled, you can paint them orange. Paint the stems brown. Let the paint dry.
When the paint is dry, draw the faces on the pumpkins and glue on the eyes. Use the pipe cleaners to make vines. Glue these to the stems. Make leaves from the green scrap paper and glue them onto the pipe cleaners. Let the glue dry and the pumpkins are ready!
